This cover is the best birthday gift I could get. I’ve been champing at the bit to share it. As with the story teasers, I won’t say more – I think the art speaks for itself. The artist who gave such dramatic, eloquent visual summation to the stories is Eleni Tsami whose work has graced other book and magazine covers, The Other Half of the Sky prominently among them.

The wraparound version is as breathtaking as the front shown here and I will link to it when Eleni unveils it. [ETA: here’s the promised link.]  For those who missed it the first time, here’s the anthology TOC:

Wow! Looks terrific! I like this one even more than the cover of The Other Half of the Sky.

And in my opinion, the scientist looks a little–but it’s of course entirely appropriate–a little bit like you.

  2. Athena says:

Yes, I believe Eleni topped her previous effort! And funny you should say this… when she had finished the cover, she mentioned that she had based some attributes of the figure’s face on my online faculty picture. These are the deepest rewards of editing.

    How lovely.

    And I love the TOC.

  4. Athena says:

Yes, isn’t it? Beautiful as a depiction of a scientist — part explorer, part high priestess.

  5. intrigued_scribe says:

This looks fantastic! As beautiful as the cover of The Other Side of the Sky — and the expression depicted is such an eloquent one.

  6. Athena says:

Dear Heather, I’m delighted you like it!

  7. Eleni says:

Well, it turned out all right after all! 😀

  8. Athena says:

I would call that an enormous understatement!!

  9. Letty says:

  10. Athena says:

I can hardly wait to share it with the world!
